Working with Different Customer Starting Points

We are fortunate to work with, and to continue to discover, customers that have a vast variety of needs when it comes to making powders. There are truly no two needs alike. Customers ultimately need powder – some need ongoing commercial quantities and some just need a one-time sample. Some customers have a proven formula and process protocol in hand and some have only raw materials and an idea.

QIC aspires to be able to help customers no matter where they are in the powder development process or what their end game is. Here is an overview of the typical service path that is followed, depending on a customer’s starting point and what work they have already done.

• If a customer has only raw materials and an idea . . .

  QIC will undertake to develop a formula, work to spray dry the product on its pilot dryer, develop the pilot drying process protocol, and produce pilot samples. If successful, the product could then be scaled up via trials on a commercial dryer. After successful trials, the powder could then be commercially produced.

• If a customer has only raw materials and a formula . . .

  QIC will work to spray dry the product on its pilot dryer, develop the pilot drying process protocol, and produce pilot samples. If successful, the product could then be scaled up via trials on a commercial dryer. If successful, the powder could then be commercially produced.

• If a customer has only raw materials, formula, and pilot sample . . .

  QIC will work to spray dry the product on its pilot dryer, develop the pilot drying process protocol, and produce pilot samples. If successful, the product could then be scaled up via trials on a commercial dryer. If successful, the powder could then be commercially produced.

• If a customer has raw materials, formula, and a commercially produced sample . . .

  QIC will assess the prior work and product/process complexity. We will either initially conduct a pilot dryer trial or immediately scale up via trials on a commercial dryer. If successful, the powder could then be commercially produced.

• If a customer has raw materials, formula, commercial sample, and commercial drying process protocols . . .

  QIC will assess the prior work and product/process complexity to confirm that the QIC dryers can duplicate the existing process and end result. We are likely to conduct a commercial dryer trial and during the same run, move immediately into commercial production.
